Rosemount Traminer Riesling is a delicious treat - with a nose of lemon candy it hits the mouth like a peach lemon apricot meringue. Rich palette but dry enough to compliment any scampi or francese.

The Turk is a Barossa Valley blend of Shiraz (48%), Cabernet (30%), Grenache (16%), and Mourvedre (6%) is blackberries and pepper offering a pretty full body.

Tonight, again, we decided to add a last minute addition to our wine menu. Croix Du Mayne, appellation Cahors, is an 85% Malbec, 15% Merlot blend. As all y’all are about to find out, other than Piemonte’s grapes, the Malbec is my favourite grape and any blend heavy in the Malbec, typical of some Bordeaux appellations and regions south of Bordeaux - such as this Cahors - ranks high on my list of desirable substances. This blend is like a cherry pomegranite fruit roll-up without the sugar- finishing in a dark tasty hickory smoke.

This evening we are tasting two red wines from Australia: Woop Woop Shiraz and Jacob’s Creek Merlot. Jacob’s Creek is sourced from a variety of Australia’s select grape growing regions. Woop Woop is blended from vineyards around southeast Australia.

The Jacob’s Creek is quite nice. While I prefer a more full bodied red, this Merlot has a nice dry bite to it at 14% alcohol and is full of brambly fruits with some interesting floral notes both in nose and on palette and a nice mellow tannin finish. Makes for easy drinking at an easy price with the wine tasting discount (aye aye).

The Woop Woop Shiraz is a bit of a powerhouse weighing in at 15% alcohol. Deep Ruby in color offering a full rich palette of plum and blackberry and a subtle nutty finish. Great compliment to any spicy meal. A decent mainstay for the shiraz lover for its price categotry.

On a whim we decided to include a new addition to our store to tonight’s tasting. From Ribero del Duero Spain, Gondomar del Reino’s ‘Roble’ (spanish for oak) is a delicsious 100% tempranillo with a full bottom and a nice combo of asian spices along with an interesting hazelnut and pipe tobacco finish. This wine makes a great compliment to any spicy dish as well as by itself or while skydiving.
